Acropolis / Plaka
The Acropolis, and the Parthenon in particular, is the most characteristic monument of the ancient Greek civilisation and a place you have to visit. It is an ancient citadel located on a high rocky outcrop above the city and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance. In addition, you can walk around in Plaka, the neihborhood of Ancient Gods and famous tourist destination or visit Ancient Agora, an interesting archeological site to the north of Acropolis.
Syntagma square / City center
Syntagma square is the central square of Athens, named after the Constitution that the first King of Greece Otto was obliged to grant. It is located in front of the 19th century Old Royal Palace, housing the Greek Parliament since 1929. Next to it, you can see the famous ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus, a colossal ruined temple dedicated to Zeus. Also, you can visit Panathenaic Stadium (known as 'Kallimarmaro'), a stadium used for several events that hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.
Panepistimiou street (also known as El. Venizelou) is one of the central streets in Athens. It is flanked by beautiful neoclassical buildings, such as Iliou Melathron (H.Schlieman's house), the Academy (the highest spiritual institution of the country), the University, the National Library, the Bank of Greece etc.
Monastiraki / Kerameikos
Monastiraki is a flea market neighborhood in the old town of Athens and is one of the principal shopping districts in Athens. The area is home to clothing boutiques, souvenir shops, and specialty stores, and is a major tourist attraction. From there, you can walk to Thiseio, to see the Temple of Hephaestus and finally reach Kerameikos area, the public cemetary of the ancient city ('polis').

You can also go to Filopappou Hill next to Acropolis and visit Pnyx, an important site for Democracy since the Athenians used to gather to host their assemblies there.

Delphi is an archaeological site as well as a modern town in Greece. It is perhaps best known for the oracle at the sanctuary that was dedicated to Apollo during the classical period. In Homer’s time, it was called Python and was the centre of the Delphic Amphictyony. It is a place visited by a lot of tourists and is characterized as a world heritage site by UNESCO.
Epidaurus was a small city (polis) in ancient Greece, at the Saronic Gulf. It was known for its sanctuary situated about five miles (8 km) from the town, as well as its theater, which is once again in use today. Epidaurus Theater is one the famous ancient theaters, marveled for its exceptional acoustics, which permit almost perfect intelligibility of unamplified spoken word from the scene to all 15.000 spectators, regardless of their seating.
Olympia, a sanctuary of ancient Greece in Elis on the Peloponnese peninsula, is known for having been the site of the Olympic Games in classical times. Olympia is also known for the gigantic ivory and gold statue of Zeus that used to stand there, sculpted by Pheidias, which was named one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World by Antipater of Sidon.
